The Relationship Between Budgets and Higher Quality Video Productions

Shopping For Video Production Quotes.

When potential clients are shopping for quotes from production companies, some are unfamiliar with the details considered when creating a budget. Therefore, when approaching producers for a quote, they are usually unprepared with a frame of budget. It is helpful for the producer to know how much they have to work with when visualizing the needs of a production. Different production companies produce different levels of production values – from low budget productions to high budgets. There are decent videos produced with low budgets; however, there is truth behind higher budgets allowing for higher quality productions. It is important that you invest your dollars in a corporate video that will reflect the quality of your company.

Here is a general description of what goes into your quote. For starters, all production staff and crew have to be paid a day rate. This includes the producer, director, camera operations, and lighting/sound department. These are the primary positions for every shoot, every size. Equipment rental packages are also necessary to be considered (cameras, dollies, cranes, etc.). These prices will vary. Some productions will require casting, which comes with a fee separate from the actors’ pay. If a company is unable to provide a filming location, location permits and fees become another factor. Of course, a production is being budgeted per day of shooting. Therefore, all fees and rates are multiplied per day. There are many other details considered depending on the size and demand of the production.

It is the producer’s responsibility to delegate where your dollars should be invested. Different aspects of your business could be highlighted more than others to enhance the image of your company. If a shoot is coordinated for four days, maybe a crane is only needed on one day. This will enhance your image and definitely make your company look good. And by choosing to shoot the crane shots on one day will allow you to spend money on highlighting other dynamics, as they should be.

When it comes to post production, editing sessions will either be an hourly or fixed rate depending on the editor. If you are interested in incorporating motion graphics, this also comes with an additional price. Another aspect to consider is music. You can pay to have music composed or purchase the rights to available music.

It is up to you and your company to determine your frame of budget. What can you afford? Do you want a big production with actors and cameras on cranes? Or just a simple interview? It is your decision, but keep aware of the relationship between budgets and higher quality productions. And remember the image you want your company to reflect.

Taking On New Video Production Clients

The wrong clients will drain your resources

Not all potential clients are profitable for business.
Marketers will suggest focusing energy and attention on customers or clients who are within your targeted audience. Perhaps to you this seems counterintuitive. You might ask why your company shouldn’t service anyone and everyone who calls in, as this would seemingly equal more opportunity for capturing new clients. But this mode of thinking isn’t exactly in line with smart and strategic business.

One reason to market a target audience is to attract potential clients who will keep your business on the path to pursuing your mission. Other clients likely end up as a distraction from the type of business you want to serve.

The wrong clients will drain your resources, ending in time and money spent on fruitless efforts. Your business image is also associated with the type of clients you serve, so maintaining a certain standard for the kind of business you bring in speaks to your brand identity. These are important ideas to remember while taking on new projects.

Seven Pictures New Clients

Taking On New Clients

At Seven Pictures Film & Video Production, we fully invest our assets in the success of your production. As part of our business ethic, we take full responsibility for the execution of your video and truly extend our production team’s energy while striving for your project’s perfection. This can be a rewarding and worthwhile effort. It can also be an exhausting one.

Experience has proven that it is not beneficial to take on just any client seeking our professional assistance. It becomes a wasted effort when time and energy is spent on conceptualizing a production and a client does not follow through with the project. It is important to sense these clients ahead of time to avoid this situation and to save energy and resources for serious potential clients who are ready to do business.

A client of Seven Pictures can expect commitment and loyalty from day one of conception to the delivery of the final product. That very same commitment and loyalty is expected in return as part of the practice of good business ethics, which Seven Pictures stands firmly behind.
